The EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) is an EU body created by the European Union in 2008 to deliver innovation across Europe and is an integral part of Horizon Europe which is the EU’s framework program for research and innovation. Bringing together more than 2900 partners, the EIT is Europe’s largest innovation ecosystem connecting organizations in business, education, and research, and
finding solutions to pressing global challenges. The EIT established innovation communities, each dedicated to finding solutions to specific global challenges in 8 domains - health, food, climate, energy, urban mobility, manufacturing, raw materials, and digital.
In 2018 EIT launched a global outreach program and established hubs in the most strategic locations around the world. As a global outreach hub, EIT Hub Israel creates synergies between the European and Israeli innovation ecosystems to support the growth of startups and increase the number of EU-Israel collaborative projects. It offers a high-end portfolio of programs to support the full life cycle of startups and the development of innovation. Among their activities you can find open innovation services ('Disrupt Me'), a 3-month 'scalerator' and bootcamp ('Calling2Scale'), tailor made training programs for ecosystem leaders ('Connect & Experience'), a bootcamp for diplomats ('Mission Innovation'), matchmaking and funding opportunities ('Bridging the Horizon'), and a lab-to-market and commercialization program tailored for research and PhD students ('Mind the Gap').
"We welcome both European and Israeli ecosystem stakeholders to use our main channels to become part of the hub community", says Adi Barel, the managing director of EIT Hub Israel. "As the bridge between Israel and the EU we enable collaborations and synergies between the markets and provide unprecedented access for both entities to promote startup growth and ecosystem impact. The access to markets, beta sites, and best practices in the implementation of impact technologies is of great value.”
